Geodesic Dome ADU
Located on a 150 acre ranch in Mendocino county, CA. This 400 sq ft space presented unique challenges as it required building a freestanding structure within an enclosed dome which included a kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping area, all on a very tight budget. All work including framing, drywall, paiting, plumbing, electrical and trim were done by me. We worked around the budget constraints by using 2x4 lumber to construct cabinets and shelves in the kitchen, using stair stringer cutoffs as shelf supports, and utilizing as many reclaimed and repurposed materials as possible. Some of the craftsman style accents include a river rock (harvested on site) band and threshold in the shower, recessed shelving between studs, and a laminated 2x4 dining counter.
