Driftwood Sculpture
Located at Winrock Town Center, Albuquerque, NM. Created as a centerpiece for a hotel and office lobby, my part in this project was the detail work and finishing of the driftwood itself. Measuring over four feet high, the project involved sandblasting the piece with walnut shell, baking soda, and finally glass bead. Next was over 80 hours of Dremel work, removing punky and dead wood, refining natural curves and polishing. Last step was a meticulous finishing process working on small areas at a time, avoiding pooling and over saturating, and finally buffing to a shine. I transported the piece from Oregon to New Mexico and worked closely with Robert Stuehrenberg (Goodman Realty) on the mounting/ fit and finish of the piece.
